Small hotel with staff who have a can do attitude, great place for a short break.

Although in urban area the setting is very very peaceful. Ideal for city, cultural, coast or base for north east visit. Hotel independently owned, each room individually designed.

The sataff were all very friendly and welcoming. The room was fantastic! Didn't get to stay there very long as it was a flying visit but would definately recommend to others and stay again

        Friendly, efficient, good food.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, but the decor and furniture were a bit tired.

Lovely bedroom with four-poster bed and huge bath (though the latter not used). Lounge very comfortable too. I booked it partly for convenience, as my friend lives in Low Fell within walking distance.

I missed trying out your restaurant with my friends as I stayed Sunday night! We had to dine elsewhere. Also, no bedside tables, or chair at which to sit at the desk/dressing table: only one chair in the whole room, though that was an easy chair. If I'd been travelling with my wife we would certainly have asked for a second chair.

        Friendly staff and reasonable breakfast.

tired building in need of decor upgrade. No fridge in room, so milk sour, no biscuits. Depsite wedding anniversary, not even a complimentary glass of wine on arrival or in room. Not good value - overpriced. Heating turned off after breakfast, so rooms cold. Only worth half the £75.00 per night charge.

put next to the kitchen extractor fan, our room has opaque windows so you could not see extractor. The noisest place I have ever been in I did not know if there was an all night party but that is not the staff's fault.Mycar had to stay in the street all night and it has a lot of valuable equipment in it.

Staff were so helpful and friendly. Hotel had a very home-like feeling. Perfect location for our needs, will definitely stay there again.

A really lovely place, quiet and peaceful in spite of being very close to Team Valley business park. Very comfortable, lovely big bed. Stairs to top floor are a bit of a problem (small narrow and steep) Food is ok but a bit overpriced for what it is. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to all. Bonus is free internet access in the rooms, a must these days for business travellers

Staff friendliness and efficiency. Any problems were dealt with immediately. Food was excellent. Comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Would definately stay again if in the area.

Rooms need a little T.L.C. Nothing major but we felt that the rooms were not quite as superior as we were led to believe

Felt like a home from home, good weather so sitting out in the gardens was lovely and relaxing. Excellent staff and the food was great

Slight complain ...vaccum cleaner used in room adjoining breakfast area rather noisy but I realise the cleaning needs to be done.

Well signposted - easy to find, lots of parking, nice ambience and attentive staff all at a reasonable price.

Door to bathroom would not shut, bathroom was too hot and there was not anyway of reducing the temperature as it had no thermostat valve as far as we could ascertain.

Friendliness of staff and location for us. Nice Sunday lunch, good chef. Bay window in room and view over garden (and railway, slightly!) Railway not noisy, which was one of our concerns.Big bathroom, too big,may be.Perhaps room could have been made larger? Nice, big towels and plenty of them.Round table and 2 chairs(hoorah!!) in the bay window area, but why no chair by dressing table/writing desk? To sum up,nothing was too much trouble for owners and staff. When my husband wanted his meat well done,my plate was also taken away, to keep food hot.Ten out of ten for that!!

Bit dark in dining and lounge rooms.Furniture in room bit shabby. No (shaving)light in bathroom,no shelf/shelves upon which to place toiletries and shaving stuff. Pity that there were no flannels; we are old-fashioned and prefer not to have to take wet flannels home! Our biggest disappointment was the cooked breakfast(although improved the second morning). Why,when there is a first-class chef for Sunday/evening meals et cetera, can't there be some one of similar calibre in the mornings. We used to run a small bed & breakfast and to us that was just as important to get right as a good dinner! It takes a similar amount of skill to get that right, albeit it not at the same level as a good chef.Perhaps the pastries(croissants etc.) should have been placed in/on a warming rack,as they were soggy and not crisp underneath.A Suggestion to consider.
